Sassa Child Grant
Sassa Child Grant is a social program run by Sassa. This program provides financial assistance for primary care of children under the age of 18. Primary Caregivers are Parents, Grandparents, or anyone else who is the head of the household This financial assistance is given to help them better raise the child. The Sassa Child Grant provides financial assistance to low-income families and parents of children.
The purpose of the grant is to remove the barriers to better parenting by eliminating other sources of low income. Six children of a family can benefit from this grant. The grant amount for the child support grant is Rs 530 per child per month. Starting on 1 June 2022, Sasa has introduced a child support grant top-up.
The purpose of this is to provide financial assistance to relatives or their caretakers in meeting the needs of orphaned children. After April 2023, the top-up value per child is confirmed to be Rs 250 per month. Accordingly, the child support grant amount for each child with top-up is Rs 750 per child.

SASSA Child Support Grant Eligibility Criteria
Whenever the government launches a program, it also sets eligibility criteria for eligibility in that program. Only those who meet the eligibility criteria are eligible for the program and are given financial assistance. Because financial aid is not possible for all people, it is made only for poor people. The SASSA Child Grant is also designed to take care of the children of poor people, and the eligibility criteria for joining it are only those who meet the eligibility criteria will be registered in the program.

- The applicant must be the child’s primary carer, parent, grandparent, or relative.
- The child must be under 18 years of age.
- The child should not be under the care of any other state agency.
- Applicant must have a 13-digit bar-coded ID card or smart ID card.
- The assets of the applicant and his/her spouse should be limited.

SASSA Child Support Registration Process
You must first register to receive financial assistance from the Sasa Child Support Grant. Registration can be done by visiting your nearest African Social Security Agency office (SASSA). For registration, you have to follow the steps given below:
- First, you must go to your nearest office and carry your ID card, birth certificate of the child, and other necessary documents with you.
- There you will be given a form, you can complete the registration of your child by filling out this form.
- If you face any problems while filling out the form then don’t worry there are representatives there who will help you.
- After filling out the form, you have to submit this form in the SASSA amount and get a receipt.
- Your application ID on this receipt and it is proof of your application
- Your application will be verified within 30 days of submitting the application
- After the verification is completed, a confirmation message will be sent to your mobile number
- If you cannot complete your registration by going to the SASSA office, you can also register online on the SASSA website and through the helpline.

How will you be paid Child Grant?
When you apply for Sasa, Sasa asks you for the bank details through which you want to receive your money. You Can choose post bank or can also choose any other personal bank. Apart from this, you can also order your money through a checkbook. When your money comes, the SASA office will call you that your check has been received. You can take that check and withdraw your money from any bank.
When you choose the option to withdraw money through your bank, you can also withdraw your money through an SASSA card and withdraw your money through a Postbank card. Also, you can get your money through any of the retailers.
You have to visit an SASSA partner retailer shop where you can withdraw your money using your SASSA card or your ID card and mobile number. Alternatively, you can visit any ATM branch near you and withdraw the Old Age Grant amount using your SASSA card.

When will the SASSA Child Grant stop?
The SASSA Child Grant is not always awarded. There is a point when you stop receiving the grant. The following are the times when your SASSA grant will stop.
- If your child dies
- Your child should be above 18 years of age.
- If the child’s parents do not receive SASSA support for three months, the support is canceled.
- Even if the child is sent to a state institution for care, the grant is also canceled.
- If your income or assets improve
